COURSE DESCRIPTION:   

The Title I Math class gives students an opportunity to practice and improve their math skills in a small group setting.  Our primary objectives are to develop students’ study skills, to improve their success in the regular math class, and to increase students’ scores on the AIMS. We will focus on the following activities/lessons:

Semester 2:

 

Unit 11 – Number theory
Unit 12 – Calculating Area
Unit 13 – Parallel Lines being cut by a transversal
Unit 14 – Parallelograms
Unit 15 – Triangle congruency
Unit 16 – Triangle congruency cont.
Unit 17 – Triangle congruency cont.
Unit 18 – Algebra 1 review
Unit 19 – Algebra 1 review cont.

 

Materials:

 

v  A three ring binder with paper for class notes, homework, and quizzes.

v  Pen/pencils

 

 

Grading Policy:

 

(Grades will be based upon a point system.  During a semester a student will have the opportunity to acquire a certain amount of points on tests, assignments, projects, etc.  The amount acquired divided by the total points available in the semester will equal a percentage which will be placed upon the appropriate Grading Scale.  The associated letter grade will then be given for that semester)

 

v  A  90-100%

v  B  80-89%

v  C  70-79%

v  F   anything below 70%

 

HOMEWORK AND EXAMS:

 

 

v  No assignment will be accepted after it has become two calendar days late from its due date.  (A due date may be adjusted for illness, family emergency, or Special Education guidelines.)           

v  There will be a 50% deduction if the assignment is late.

v  If you missed a Quiz/Test you have a week to make it up.

TO PARENT/GUARDIAN:

v  Student might be asked to stay for tutoring after school depending on his/her needs.    

v  It is important to inform me or the school administration about any changes on the student’s information such as a new phone number and/or address. We need to have this information updated in case of an emergency.     

v  The best time to contact me by phone is from 3:00pm to 3:55pm.                                                                                                          

v  It is important to get in contact with me if the student has a score less than 70% so we can begin working on getting that grade up. 

DRESS CODE   

v  NO.... bare midriff or cleavage

v  NO.... spaghetti straps, bare backs, halter tops, or backless shirts (your lingerie can not be visible)

v  NO.... sunglasses, hats, caps or non-religious head coverings

v  NO.... gang, drug, tobacco, alcohol, sexual, racist logos or wording

v  NO.... boxers or underwear showing

v  NO.... short skirts, dresses or shorts. All skirts, shorts and dresses must be at least 5 inches from the bottom of your    buttocks.

CLASSROOM CONDUCT

 

v  NO.... cell phones or other electronic devices. They must be turned off, put away and       

     not used during class time.

v  NO.... videotaping or audio recording of students in or out of the classroom

v  NO.... food or drink in the classroom

v  NO.... gum in the classroom

 

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

 

v  Be on time. Be in your seat at the start of class, prepared to work, quiet and attentive.

v  Be prepared. It is your responsibility to have all materials available and ready to use prior to the beginning of class.

v  Be Courteous. Show respect for self, others, classrooms, labs, bathroom facilities, buildings, equipment and materials.

v  Be Successful. Be responsible for yourself and your own work, make sufficient effort in all work and assignments, and complete work in an accurate and timely manner.

v  Take care of all the classroom materials such as books, calculators, and computers.  If you break any of these you will have to replace it or get it fixed.
