AAEC High School – South Mountain
English Teacher at AAEC, South Mountain Campus AAEC Annex on the SMCC Campus, Room 906 Ms. Sarah Juno-Allen
Teen culture demands communication on many levels. As an English teacher I am in a fortunate time and place to offer my students this connection to a future that requires their critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. Literature is everywhere. We read and interpret what we read, constantly. Language has a diverse power this way, especially if we participate in it with an informed and open mind. Writing and reading are tools for sophisticating language use and comprehension, and they can create a responsive conversation between students and the numerous impressions flowing in from a media-saturated culture. Therefore, both reading and writing enrich one’s conversation with the many kinds of texts that surround us. |
