Welcome

Welcome to the Agriculture and Equine Program at AAEC. We are proud to begin our third year at our new facility. The mission of Agricultural Science Education is to prepare students for employment and/or continuing education opportunities in agriculture and or equine science. This is accomplished through technical instruction in the classroom, experiential education in the laboratory and through the supervised agriculture experience program (SAEP), along with leadership and personal development through the FFA.

The first component is the technical instruction taught in the classroom. Our curriculum is based on the most current agriculture industry needs. Our curriculum also is state mandated to meet state science standards and has also been linked to language and math standards.

The supervised agricultural experience program (SAEP) is an integral and necessary component of the agricultural education program. Here students apply, in real life situations, the concepts that they learn in the classroom and the laboratory. At the entry level the SAEP can be exploratory in nature but as the student progresses in the program, the SAEP should become more occupationally oriented. Quality SAE programs are supervised year round by the agricultural education teacher, records are kept by the student, and a personal investment of time, energy and/or money is included and essential. New this year, student will receive an ¼ credit each semester for maintaining a AZ computerized record book.

The FFA is a national youth organization which is integral to any agriculture program. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The FFA is also the pathway to proficiency awards and scholarships for student SAE programs. The FFA brings it all together, by using the students knowledge from the classroom to maintain a productive SAE and rewarding students efforts through Local, District, State and National Competitions.
